Trip to Atlanta

So my girlfriend and I went to Atlanta for a friends birthday. We left early to head to the Georgia Aquarium and some other places. The aquarium is awesome! It was an incredible experience and well worth the money! We then headed to Midtown Music. If you are a musician you NEED to check out this place! It is the Professional music store with no guitar under $1,500.00 and also they have boutique amps. I was going through the amps and found a Two Rock "john mayer" signature head. There were only 25 of these made! With the sale price of $8,500.00 the owner has already sold one!! With my jaw dropped and drool out of my mouth my girlfriend patiently waits until I'm done (shes an angel). Atlanta was 101 degrees and humid all day long and I'm not going to go in detail of how we ate outside for a friends birthday party. Atlanta is a great city but I would not lose any sleep tonight if I could not go back. If you ever go to Atlanta stop by Bahama Breeze in Duluth GA,it is a cool restaurant.

So I'm addicted

So I'm a addicted to news programs. Like Dateline, 20/20, and 48 hours mystery. I know it sounds really nerdy for someone my age to be watching this stuff but I love real life stuff. Erin and I can't wait till one of these shows come on and we are glued to the tv. Wil makes fun of me but its ok because these shows have been on for like 20 years so I am not the only one watching them. Now I recently just got Tivo, which is the greatest thing ever, and the whole hard drive is full of these programs. Each morning I wake up and watch 1 or 2 episodes. I can't get into sitcoms very well other than like Law and Order SVU. Tv just comes off very cheesy and these reality tv producers think we are idiotic because they believe we think their shows are real. So we're hitting the road on August 18th and I have been loading my ipod with 48 hours mystery and the office to watch at hotel rooms and we also have a xbox 360 that is going with us so we should be occupied when we are not playing live. Watch Dateline and give it a chance.....you might enjoy it.

Peeing Beside Mat Kearney

Me and my beautiful girlfriend and Chasen and his wife went to go see Mat Kearney and Jon Mclaughlin last night at Wild Wings. It was soo cool because you got to eat, sit down. and watch 2 guys play there music acoustic. Jon Mclaughlin was up first. He is REALLY good at piano but after a while I was kinda of wondering off in my mind because every song started to sound the same (probably because I don't play piano) and waiting on Mat Kearney. After Jon Mclaughlin was done I headed toward the bathroom and who did I pee beside??? No other that Mat Kearney. I know I'm probably sounding like a girl right now because all musicians put there pants on the same way we do. But there aren't many girls that have the chance to pee beside Mat Kearney. He looked over at me at the urinal and said "Hey man whats going on." Obviously he could see what was "going on." He was a Super nice guy and I walked out of the bathroom and told everyone about my milestone I just had in my life. Mat Kearney was great live and his songs are so simple but yet they take you on an adventure when he starts to sing. So if you ever get the chance of seeing Mat Kearney....... do it! And try to pee beside him too!

Chasen Update

Well well alot has happened for Chasen in the past week and a half. We just found out yesterday that we got a endorsement with Elixir Strings! We are stoked about that because those things can get expensive on the road stopping at music stores. We are currently look for a bassist to go on the road with us and hopefully we will have one for sure by next week. We are currently still booking shows and if you haven't noticed yet we are playing with needtobreathe at the handlebar September 22. You do NOT want to miss this show! We will have some special guest out in the audience that are interested in us for a certain ordeal. I can't say anything at this moment about it. So you want to be there because we will be going ALL out for this show! Our single "Crazy Beautiful" is being picked up radio stations across the nation! WOOHOO! I'm psyched. One Music Director for a station in Maryland said it was refreshing and “there’s NOTHING on the air right now that sounds like this!” So we are excited to be hitting the road and meeting new people and the friends we have made till this point!! We will keep you up to date with Chasen because we like to think that you guys get just as excited as we do...because you guys make our success!!! Thank you!!

Back Again!!!!

Well I'm back! Now that I am about to hit the road I'm gonna start blogging again to keep my family and friends up to date with what I'm doing! Our drummer is on vacation this week to the beach so I'm just kicking back this week. As all of you know by now wil has left Chasen. WE ARE ALL ON GOOD TERMS! Just wanted to make that clear! Wil is the worship leader at Marathon North and he felt like God wanted him to stay at Marathon North. We hate not having him on the road but it takes alot of guts to give up what he gave up and do what God wanted him to do. Wow that last line sounded like he hates leading worship?? haha you know what I mean. I'm sitting here watching the British Open (golf) and that is a tough course...I just hope Tiger Woods doesn't win. The PGA acts like he is God! I mean he is good but he is the most arrogant and most fined player on the tour because of his language. Anyways yesterday I won tickets to see Jon Mclaughlin and Mat Kearney at Wild Wing in downtown Greenville. How weird is it that these well known musicians are playing Wild Wings??? I was stoked! Well I'm going to wrap this up. If you haven't gotten Rocket Summer's new album go get it!! It's really good, but if you don't like pop then you wouldn't like it!!! Check out my next blog because I'll be jabbering about some new Chasen news!

I"m Excited

So today I had found out what days we are going to be in the studio and I got pumped up. I'm ready to make an album that is going to blow peoples mind. We are headed in there in the middle of april and we can't wait to get in there! I'm ready to tour more than anything. We love our fans and love to make connections and meet people. I just don't want to run into van trouble...(which will happen!!!) I'm signing up for the gym this week because I am wayyyyy out of shape. Me and the boys (Chasen) played basketball this past weekend while we were in Greenwood and we were all huffin and puffin. This is gonna be hard because I HATE running! I mean who really does?!? I know people like to stay in shape but I hear all the time that people LIKE to run?! hmmmm it doesn't excite me so I'm gonna make myself do it! oh well I'm gonna head to bed!!! and by the way....All the fans in Greenwood thanks soo much for rockin' out this weekend with us! we had a great time. And also I hear that we are coming back soon so watch www.chasenmusic.com for updates!

Nothing New

Well I really don't have anything to blog about. But I'll try it anyways.....here it goes....well I just got a new Mac Laptop and its pretty sweet. The guy I bought it from upgraded it and its lightning fast. Chasen played in Charlotte NC and it was a blast. We want to thank everyone at Hopewell High School! We had some van trouble (again) on the way back and we were stuck in the ghetto of all ghettos! We finally made it home! It was good to be home because it was a looong weekend! It felt good to sleep in my bed! It was good to come back and just rest. I love my family and my girlfriend (yeah thats her in the picture) and that doesn't made the road life any easier. Well I'm off to watch a movie!!

Hurt foot for John

So last night I went to see John Mayer and it was pretty dang good. I'll blog on that later. Anyways I was on my way out and I was talking to Jamie (New guitarist in Chasen) on the phone while I was going down the steps outside the colonial center. I thought I was on the last step and I wasn't....I was on the second step. So as I stumble down the steps my ankle rolls and I felt it snap. As I am about to bust out in tears Chase and his wife and my girlfriend Erin are laughing at me and I'm sure the people behind me are laughing too. My ankle isn't too swollen but it hurts like a mother. Chase was still laughing about it on the way home as we listen to honky tonk country music to keep chase awake....another blog to write about! anyways im out!!

Chasen's next step
Upstate Christian rock band begins a journey this week into the much larger world of rock music

Published: Tuesday, February 6, 2007 - 6:00 am

jchappell@UpstateLink.com

Chasen, an eight-year brainchild of front man Chasen Callahan, 22, of Powdersville, will begin recording its first full-length album in February that's to be nationally distributed, the result of being signed to Greenville-based and Edwin McCain-backed OMG Records, and will head out on a multi-month tour that'll lead these twenty-somethings from West Virginia to Texas.

"We just want to get out of South Carolina and let people know who we are and what we're about in other states," Callahan says.

The album, presently unnamed and slated for a fall release, comes on the heels of a "Fresh New Music" designation by Dasani water that led to the band's EP being distributed in Greenville-area Bi-Lo stores - and more than 2,000 sales of that five-song debut since fall, says Gene Krcelic, OMG Records principal partner.

The five-man group all live in the Powdersville area and have been playing together for about two years. Though all originally from the Upstate, they didn't go to high school together. They met over the years through various church-related music events.

The band began congealing at Marathon Church in Powdersville and soon was playing shows around the Upstate, performing more than 250 times in one year. In early January last year, Krcelic, at the fledgling OMG Records, was exposed to Chasen's demo by the record exec's neighbor. That led to a series of meetings, evaluations and the preliminary EP recording, until, ultimately, the band was signed Sept. 1.

A big key to the signing, Krcelic says, was the support of the label's engineer and producer, Noel Golden, the Grammy Award-winning guy with bands like Matchbox 20 and McCain. Golden gave Krcelic two gold thumbs up. Also, when McCain told the band he liked it, Chasen was in.

"To have someone from the secular industry believe in me and my faith and believe that I can make a difference - as soon as he said that, that's when we all sat down and talked," Callahan says.

And with that, the band stepped into a very different musical atmosphere - one that they hope is the beginning of a long run.

"To never die out - really that's what our goal is," Callahan says. "God gave us talents, and he gave us this vision, and that's not for a season. It's for a lifetime."

That doesn't mean playing for churches and church groups alone, he says, but going wherever he feels his lyrics might be valued.

"Whether you're a Christian or not," he says, "people still need hope. People still need to feel like they're loved, and they belong in the world."

Yes, the next few months are going to be busy and hectic. They'll tour a few states (in McCain's tour bus), head back to Greenville for recording and then tour some more. But that set-up, he says, will let them test and hone their songs with fans and nail down the stuff that people really like.

It's a full-on endeavor, and there's only one way to go at it, Callahan says.

"If you're going to go for something, go for the whole thing - never just a piece of it."

Vinny Vandura

So early this morning about 2:45AM Chasen's Van "Vinny Vandura" had blown a tire. Ok it would have been fine if we had a lugwrench to get the lugnuts off!! But we didn't. You really know who your friends are when you call them at 2:45 in the morning to see if they can help you and they don't! (bholda!) haha. So on the coldest night of the year coming back from Atlanta there are 5 guys staring at a demolished tire freezing and waiting on help. Because none of us know anything about cars. Finally at about 4:15-4:30AM we had AAA to come out and put a tire on for about $65....gee whiz. So while we were waiting on help to arrive before all this....our manager just tries to turn on the heat and guess what comes out??!! HEAT!!! so this whole time we have been freezing and we have had heat the entire time! I was glad to be home. I was coming in from a an Atlanta show while my dad was headed out to work! haha my lifes interesting...........

IN ATL and its COLD!!

Well me and my boys Chasen are in Atlanta and it's freeeeezing. We have one heater in our room and we take turns standing in front of it. We are having a great time though. We are playing with 2 bands named Love Rush and Triggerfish and we are making new friends. We had to hit up a CVS to get some video camera tape and some vitamin water. Playing Frogger across Atlanta traffic is tough getting to CVS. Well I'm gonna get changed and hit the stage!

Jesus loves me and my tattoos

Well as many of you know I have 3 tattoos. I always heard you get addicted to them and it's true. I was so worried about my girlfriends parents finding out that I have tattoos. Ok come on, I have crazy hair, earrings, tattoos, and I dress a lil funny too. I don't look like the guy that your parents want their daughter bringing home. haha!! But I treat her like a Queen and hopefully they see that....but thats a different blog! haha!! I want another tattoo on the back of my arms. I was thinking on one arm saying "In my Love" and the other arm saying "Be Lifted High". Or I thought on one arm saying "Crazy" and the other arm saying "Beautiful". Anyways I'm thinking because they are gonna be on there for a while. If you think tattoos are wrong then email me and we'll fight about it.....you might think they are tacky and ugly and thats fine because I could probably say the same thing about you in some aspects. It's time to quit worrying about what we look like and start uniting to set the world on fire!!! Thats what my boys Chasen, Wil, Aaron, and Jamie are doing!!

Well well! Chasen has been asked to headline the handlebar! This is a cool thing for us because we played there a little over a year ago and now they are asking us to headline on a Friday nite!! Soooooo.....we need everyone out there for support! We want to pack the place out! How cool would it be for the owner to walk in and see Chasen packing out the handlebar! So don't miss it on January 19th. Last November and Madison Fair will be opening up the show, plus another local band. Go to www.myspace.com/chasen for more information! Anyways I have to go but I want you to check out a band if you haven't already.......MUSE. This is one of the best bands out right now! So I Here I Go Again......

Lets talk.........ok I'll do the talking, you just listen. There are two things I hate.....1)Hitler and 2)people on their myspace and facebook that put "I love God and he is my passion.......I love to party." Then they go on and cuss in their profiles....this bothers me! I had to say that. If that offends anyone then good, because it needs to. OK moving on! Well Christmas is almost here and I am excited. I went to a Christmas party with Erin, AKA my girlfriend, and we played the "dirty santa" game with her work. This was played with serious gifts instead of gag gifts. And what did I end up with??.....a Cheese cutting board!! I know! How stupid is that?! But it was fun. So since my iPOD is fixed I have found some music. Wil introduced me to a band called "Starting Tuesday" and "The Working Title" and they both rock! Also check out a band called "Nevertheless". Well I have to do laundry so I'll check up wit cha lata!!!!

I'm the Smartest Man Alive......

So yesterday was the best day of my life. I found out 2 things. 1.) My iPOD can be fixed and 2.) I can fix it!.....Now many of you know that I am not a handy man. I don't know how to change my oil or drill holes in things or spit tobacco (??). So yesterday I tried to replace the battery in my iPOD that has been dead for over a year and long story short.....it's back to normal!! Thanks for all your prayers and support!! So moving right along.....Wednesday night I went to see bowling for soup. Not to impressive but there was this band called melee. WOW! amazing. They have a new album coming out in Spring 2007 and I can't wait. There was also a band called Meg and Dia and they were incredible also. Check em' out on myspace!!!So christmas is near and I haven't bought a dang thing!!!!! So I'm gonna hit up the shower and then the mall! If you want something for christmas leave a comment and I'll see what I can do!!

I know some of you are thinking.......

"evan silver is writing a blog?" I use to think blogs were so dumb....but I have caught myself reading them more and more often. So I'm gonna see how this works. I'm gonna update this hopefully 3-4 times a week so check back. If I find any good music I'll let ya know and also good movies. God has also been showing me new things lately. He's showing me that I totally need him. I also have an awesome career playing in a rock band called Chasen. We signed with OMG records and we are about to record our national debut album that is set to release August 07'. We will be hitting the road from May to September on a 14 state tour and I won't be seeing home for a while. I have mixed feelings about that because I wanna be on the road sooo bad I can't stand it. But yet I am so close to my family and they have supported me my whole life and they love me living my dream. The road is hard when you have a dating relationship. Dating relationships are hard enough but the road will make it tougher! ahhh!! But I will be just fine and I'm doing what God is wanting me to do. He will pull me through!!!

Until Next Time,
Evan
